| Name: Vicky Maltman
I am seeking an Office with the Sun Valley General Improvement
District.
I have lived in Sun Valley since 1993 after retiring from
law enforcement. I am very concerned about the rates and
the rate payers. It is not an easy time and I would like
to have a voice concerning our water and sewer rates.

and is active in the community." |
We are all aware like
with most other utilities, we that live in the SVGID
District have no other option. We are a very “captive”
audience.
I am very committed to the citizens that pay for their
water and sewer to the SVGID. I am also concerned
about the cost to maintain the parks and pool. While
it is a bonus for all residents of Sun Valley, only
some of those that use the parks and the pool are
paying the extra amount through the SVGID; however,
not all residents of Sun Valley receive their water
and sewer from the SVGID. It is my mission, if elected,
to attract more events and rent these facilities to
help offset the costs. |
I have been attending the Board meetings
for a number of months now and I am a bit concerned about
the rates and increases that have been implemented by
other entities that may affect us very soon. This is not
the time to increase rates when our unemployment is the
highest in the United States, and it does not appear this
will change anytime soon.
 |
I have also
attended RTC meetings concerning the “freeway”
that is proposed through Sun Valley. This may cost
many people their homes. I have attended the County
Commissioners meetings, and have had the opportunity
to learn first hand about Washoe County’s Veterans
Court. I have attended numerous other meetings in
Washoe County and have spent several days during the
last 3 sessions in Carson City learning about how
our State Legislators work. |
"Vicky
is a strong voice for Sun Valley having participated
in the budget hearings she has many money saving
ideas that will save the rate payers money." |
I have attended Hartnell Junior College,
Gavilan College for my Police Officer Standard Training),
San Joaquin Delta College and the University of Southern
CA., in addition to many training classes over my years
in law enforcement.

"Vicky speaks and isn't timid
about asking pertinent questions which resulted
in the clearing up of confusing language in the
salary/compensation policies." |
I have served as Secretary, Treasurer
and/or President of a Drug and Alcohol Board, a Preservation
Committee, Juvenile Justice Board, and was a Scout
Leader for the Law Enforcement Explorers. I was State
President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary
in 2006-2007, founded a Woman’s Club for North
Valleys and serve as President, and 1st Vice President
and program Chairman for a State Woman’s Organization
and Caring for America Committee Member for a National
Woman’s Organization, I am the Auxiliary Director
for Congressional District 2 for Veterans In Politics,
produce a veterans newsletter monthly and handle several
websites. |
